Game NotesCounty Senior Champions, Castlebar Mitchels, rescued a point when Neil Douglas kicked over the equalising point 3 minutes into injury time. Mind you, no one could have any complaints with the result as there was really nothing to separate the sides throughout the game. Ronan Malee had kicked Kiltimagh ahead in the 60th minute and for two and a half minutes it looked like Kiltimagh might have a serious scalp. However, Douglas held his nerve and slotted a tremendous point to tie the scores. In a low scoring first half, Kiltimagh started the better and points from David Lydon and Cillian Finn had them 2 in front. Douglas and James Durcan levelled matters at the end of the first quarter. Kiltimagh had 3 clear goals chances which would have put some daylight between the sides but they couldn’t convert. Sean Walsh and the excellent, Donovan Cosgrove, both struck over splendid points to put Kiltimagh 2 ahead again. Danny Kirby brought the gap back to the minimum when he pointed shortly after coming on as a substitute. That finished the scoring of the half and Kiltimagh led 0-4 to 0-3 at the break. Castlebar stormed into the game after the restart . They hit 4 points without reply and Kiltimagh struggled to contain them. However, Kiltimagh settled and got the measure of Castlebar again with Mattie Cummins, outstanding in the full back line, snuffing out the potent threat of Douglas. Conor Heneghan was also superb along with the strong running Cosgrove. 2 points from Malee and a point from TJ Byrne had the teams level again at 7 a piece. With 5 minutes remaining, a Douglas free nudged Castlebar ahead again. Kiltimagh responded and a Malee free tied up the game with 2 minutes on the clock. A great score from Malee then put Kiltimagh ahead in the 60th minute and it looked like a massive shock might be on the cards. Castlebar, though, showed their experience and found the equalising score through Douglas.
