Game NotesKiltimagh struck at the death to snatch victory in this tight division 1 clash. A goal from TJ Byrne in the third minute of injury time bagged the 2 points for Kiltimagh when, despite a very good display from Kiltimagh, it looked like the points were lost. Both teams treated the enthusiastic crowd to an exhibition of scoring in the first half. Kiltimagh started like men possessed and stormed into a 3 point lead and, if truth be told, it could have been more, such was their dominance. However, Crossmolina did settle into the game with Conor Loftus orchestrating things from midfield. A free from Ronan Malee started the ball rolling for Kiltimagh and this was followed by points from Liam Kelly and Malee again. Crossmolina got off the mark with a point of their own and the teams then traded points with David Lydon, Steve McDonnell and Eoghan Lavin scoring for Kiltimagh as they led 0-6 to 0-3 after 15 minutes. Liam Lydon stretched the lead to 4 points before Crossmolina responded but then Lavin restored the 4 point lead. Kiltimagh were well in control at this point but the momentum changed somewhat when Crossmolina goaled after Fionan Duffy latched on to a long ball and slotted it past Jamie McNicholas. They followed that with a point from the resulting kick out and the game was now level. Malee put Kiltimagh ahead again but again Cossmolina levelled. Sean Walsh did the same only for that to be cancelled out and it looked like the teams would retire for the break on level terms. However, Jason Forkan had other ideas and he was on hand to stroke the ball over the bar and leave Kiltimagh with the narrowest of leads, 0-11 to 1-7, at half time. The teams again exchanged points immediately after the restart, with Eoghan Lavin restoring the lead for Kiltimagh. Crossmolina levelled again and then took the lead for the first time in the game. Kiltimagh did not lie down, however, and a Lavin free equalised for Kiltimagh. However, Kiltimagh were attacking when a misplaced pass went to Conor Loftus and he ran through the Kiltimagh defence and unleashed a shot that Jamie McNicholas saved but Loftus bundled the rebound home and Crossmolina were now clearly in control. Again, they followed the goal with a point and they led by 4 points. A Malee free left just the goal between the sides but time was running out for Kiltimagh. Steve McDonnell hit over a point on the 60 minute mark and Crossmolina now just had to play down the clock. Kiltimagh got a free on half way and the ball was floated high into the Crossmolina square. TJ Byrne rose highest to field the ball and he broke through the defence to lash the ball to the net. The KIltimagh fans erupted but before they could settle, Lavin had gained possession from the kick out and hit over an insurance point. With that, the Kiltimagh team and supporters breathed a huge sigh of relief.
